Hi guys, hope you’re all well, I’ve had a pretty busy few weeks with a lot of Uni work and other Uni events. It was nice a to see a lot of you at the Interview day, hopefully they all went well and you’ll be finding out if you have a place soon.
Here’s some of the pictures that I took last week, the little cardboard robot is called a Danbo and features in Japanese anime Yotsuba&!. The character has become really popular amongst photographers so I bought one in my first year of Uni and take it with me wherever I go. You can buy them all on Ebay, just search mini Danbo.
When I got back to Cardiff one of my house mates had three of his American friends staying with us for the weekend who are currently traveling around Europe for their spring break, he showed them the best bits of Wales, Barry Island… We then took them on a massive night out to the Cardiff SU – Hospitality Cardiff. It was a great weekend, and remember, even if you’re not a student at Cardiff or Cardiff Met, you can still use their students unions.
We were exploring our housemates shed the other day that they’ve never been in, whilst digging around we found this old newspaper, its a little torn but was an interesting read!
Why I chose USW
I looked at a lot of Universities before finding USW, I went through all of the websites, got all the prospectuses found all the best courses but it all came down to what the University was like when I went there for an open day. I would really really recommend getting out there and seeing every University that you like the sound of, speak to the current students, lecturers, other prospective students, it all helps. I went to some Universities and the lecturers sounded bored and the student ambassadors really didn’t want to be there. As soon as I got that vibe I knew the place wasn’t for me, you will instantly know when you find the right University. Books and websites can only go so far, explore the campus, get around the twon/city, you’ll be living there for 3 years.
When I came to look round USW, I actually missed my talk for Media Production because the plan of events were changed and we weren’t told about it. So we went and found a lecturer who showed me around all of the facilities, answered all of my questions and made me realise that Media Tech was a better course for me. This level of interest into one student made really like the place, the ATRiuM was also modern and well equipped, so that helped too! Once done with the University, I looked around the City. Where you live is just as important as the University as you have to have something to do when you’re not at uni. Cardiff was just the right size for me, it had a lot going on and was really easy to get around. Distance wasn’t really ever and consideration but Cardiff is fairly close to home which has come in handy over the years.
I hope you’re all looking forward to England beating Wales this weekend!!
